I happened to catch this at the Cinema recently (in fact it is still playing at some multiplexes in the UK) and distinctly remember it being a scope presentation. I checked this on IMDB and it was indeed a 2.35:1 presentation theatrically, so you can imagine my surprise that this DVD has a 1.77:1 image. Saying that it doesn't appear to have suffered from the cropping, and checking IMBD in more detail it would appear that it was shot on super 35mm to allow for cropping. The image however is very clean and has copious amounts of fine detail on show. Colours are well defined and reproduced with good solid blacks. Fleshtones appear natural, and there are no signs of grain or dirt in the image which also has no signs of edge enhancement or pixilation problems.
