The Crow Movie Review

Hop to

Adapted from the comic series by James O'Barr, The Crow is a violent and beautiful story of undying love. One year after a young couple were brutally murdered, Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) rises from the dead to seek revenge on those who wronged him and the woman he loved.

The biggest problem with forming an opinion about The Crow is that it is hard for fans to separate the film from the on-set death of its star Brandon Lee. This shouldn't really impact on your critical faculties, but there's no denying that Lee's death does give an already dark film an additional poignancy. However, apart from all that The Crow remains an incredibly worthwhile film. The cast are uniformly excellent, with Rochelle Davis' Sarah and Ernie Hudson's disgruntled cop adding heart and compassion to what could easily have become a bleak, nihilistic tale of violence and revenge.
