The Bourne Identity Movie Review
Robert Ludlum's novel gets the Hollywood treatment - the book was a scintillating read and the movie pretty much lived up to the standard set by the “can't put down” best seller. Designed to tie in with the upcoming cinema release of The Bourne Supremacy the first movie gets a new region 2 release and the Special Edition treatment.

Presumed dead, Bourne's lifeless body is pulled from a stormy ocean by the crew of a fishing boat. Suffering amnesia, yet able to perform feats of intricate skill, both physically and mentally, Bourne is clearly no ordinary man. Intent on piecing together his missing memories, Bourne finds himself being tracked by powers unknown with only his seemingly repressed training skills saving him from capture. Franka Potente (Maria Helena Kreutz) provides the necessary love interest opposite Matt Damon's reluctant hero character... and a most attractive love interest she is, too!

I've seen this movie a few times now, and I feel it just about saves itself from being a little too meandering from about half way in, with enough action to keep you interested in how things are going to pan out for the tormented Bourne. This is a solid first outing for Matt Damon, “super hero”, but is this single disc Special Edition DVD release - with tagged on new beginning and ending - worth your hard-earned? If that was all there was to this new release I would say no - these non-anamorphically enhanced scenes add nothing and if anything slow down proceedings - but there's meant to be a fair few extra features here, so I will forgo final judgment until I've checked these out...
