Terminator 2: Judgment Day: The Ultimate Dvd DVD Review
SRP: £24.99

Picture

The digitally remastered anamorphic 2.35:1 transfer is sheer luxury. Colourful and clean right the way through, with tons of detail and sharp edges. Even the dark, futuristic battle scenes lose none of their resolution. Class.

Sound

There's a choice of Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX, DTS 5.1 ES and Dolby Surround 2.0 soundtracks, all of which are astounding. They are clean and clear throughout, and the futuristic war scenes are perfect demo material - the lasers ping from the surround channels while rumbling tanks occupy the sub. The canal chase is another fantastic example, keeping tension levels high with Brad Fiedel's pounding score and crunching effects.

Extras

It's the same as that of the R1 two-disc set except the R2 edition does not include the shorter theatrical version. Disc one contains biographies and interviews with 26 members of cast and crew. Disc two contains multiple goodies: three featurettes (two making of... documentaries and one about the Terminator theme park), storyboards (700 scenes), the complete screenplay (574 stills), a teaser trailer, two theatrical trailers and a T2 Special Edition trailer.
A supplement covers the film making process, with 60 interviews, behind-the-scenes and production footage, and a data archive of over 3000 stills. Great transition menus and a 32 page booklet to peruse. Phenomenal. This 'ultimate edition' certainly lives up to its name. Brilliant film, stupendous package. Buy it now.
