Serial Slayer DVD Review
MSRP: £15.99

Picture

The 4:3 DV image is clear and bright with no visible print damage or scratches, but this is the main problem as well, slasher movies should not be ultra clean and bright and filmed in the daylight. I understand the director wanted to take a novel approach to the genre but it really did not work, and the film is devoid of tension. However this is what the director wanted so we have to go with it.

Sound

Again the Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo track is fine, but it's nothing spectacular which is a shame as the Region 1 release is in 5.1 and apparently really adds to the movie. However this Region 2 track is very flat and does nothing to enhance the little tension the film has. Dialogue is clear and the effects are fine. Average.

Extras

Only extras are 4 trailers (“Legend of Samhain”, “Scarred”, “Lucky” and “Blood Dancers”) - The Region 1 however gets a directors commentary, which would have been interesting to learn why he takes the approach he does with the film.
Serial Slayer
Very poor and amateurish, competent actors are wasted with a poor script and an odd approach to the slasher movie genre.
