Naked Weapon DVD Review
SRP: £19.99

Picture

This two-disc set features a beautiful
anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer. Colours
are accurately reproduced, detail
levels are high and there is not a trace
of edge-enhancement or artefacting.

Sound

As one of the rare Cantonese films to
have been recorded in English, you
might ask why HKL has included both
English and Cantonese mixes on the
DVD. That's because the Cantonese
mix has a little more than language in
it, and because HKL is nothing if not
comprehensive. Both soundtracks
come in DD 5.1 and DTS flavours, and
whichever you choose you'll be left
with a full-blooded, dynamic mix that
kicks ass as well as the stars do.

Extras

More entertaining than the film is the
feature-length audio commentary by
Bey Logan and leading lady Maggie Q.
The duo have a great repartee and are
completely honest in their opinion of
the film and its production history. Also
included on the first disc are promo
trailers for other HKL and Premier Asia
titles. On Disc Two you'll find interviews
with actors Anya, Andrew Lin, Almen
Wong and Monica Lo, four trailers, a
20-minute Making of..., a photo gallery,
A Day in the Life with Maggie Q
featurette, behind-the-scenes footage,
a location guide hosted by Bey Logan
and biographies.A great release for a fun film that ultimately
falls a little short of the high standards we
expect from HKL.
