Meet the Fockers Movie Review

Hop to

Well I have been waiting for this one! I missed it at the cinema so was very keen to see if this could live up to the success of the first film. Meet The Parents was a hilarious caper and it was great to see the likes of Robert De Niro playing a comedy role. It quickly became one of the big movie hits of 2000 and critics praised the two lead actors (Stiller and De Niro). Meet The Fockers sees De Niro reprise his role as Jack, the intolerant suspicious father of Pam. Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand also join him plus of course the main characters from the prequel, including Jinx the cat!

The premise of this film is exactly as the title suggests; we get to meet Ben Stiller's character's folks. Hoffman and Streisand play the parents as loved up hippies with no hang-ups or cares in the world, much to the annoyance and disapproval of Jack. Although there isn't any great storyline in this film other than the introduction of the Fockers and the planning of the couple's wedding it is still a worthy follow up to the first film. Whilst I enjoyed it from start to finish, for me, Meet The Parents still pips it at the post as being the better film as it had a better storyline with various subplots and there were a lot more comedy moments. This does not mean it was a bad film but purely just a comparison against the first. As a stand-alone comedy it is most definitely a hit! There are numerous gags surrounding the Focker name and I have to say I found every one of them funny! Checkout the relatives: Dom, Randy and Orny Focker! Hilarious stuff!
