George Bizet: Carmen Movie Review
It's not often that you see an otter and a haddock on stage together, but you can in this lavish Glyndebourne stage production of Georges Bizet's comic opera, in which Anne Sofie von Otter and Marcus Haddock take the lead roles. Laurent Naouri and Lisa Milne also star in a production that restores Georges Bizet's original dialogue, and Philippe Jordan conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The double DVD package includes a cast gallery, character notes, costume designs, choreography and stage fighting featurettes, a short on Glyndebourne and multilanguage subtitles, together with a booklet. The image is a strong anamorphic 16:9 transfer and the audio options are a choice of PCM Stereo or superb DTS - no DD 5.1, oddly. All together now, 'Toreador, en garde, Toreador, Toreador...'
