Duttyology Movie Review
Fresh from the success of his first album “Dutty Rock” (a 'Dutty', I'm reliably informed, being a pipe used to smoke, ahem, recreational materials), this DVD features all four of Sean Paul's hit videos (“Gimme the light”, “Get Busy”, “Like Glue” and “I'm still in love with you”) as well as his sell out Toronto live concert and a vast amount of behind the scenes and tour footage. Indeed, there's definitely enough here to content fans of this genre of music but here I have a small problem.

Although I like to think I have a pretty eclectic taste in music (including reggae), the one genre of music I don't really care for is rap, especially the new generation of “angry young rappers”. You can call me an old fogey if you like (indeed I have committed the cardinal sin to the music industry of being over 30) and I know this music isn't vaguely aimed at my age group but I have to be honest and say that it doesn't do much for me. That being said Sean Paul does put across a great deal of energy in the music presented here. It's probably not for nothing that his releases are proving phenomenally popular all around the world, including the incredibly difficult to break US market (where “Get Busy” proved to be the highest US charting single ever recorded by a Jamaican artist).

Moving back to the DVD set we have here, the disc is not structured in a traditional main feature/extras way, instead we have 3 behind the scenes features, a bonus video and the main Toronto concert featuring 18 tracks:
