Picture

It looks like Warner hasn't made too much effort to get the picture up to scratch. There are an alarming amount of white specks on the print and a near constant flicker of dirt. Colours are rich in places, like the red flowers to the left of the screen as we see the first of the British army camp. Grain is less noticeable, which is to be applauded if not hailed as a success. I must say that I thought the picture overly soft in places - that aforementioned army base introduction is an example. Special mention should go to the CGI hyenas which are actually worse than Exorcist the Beginning efforts. If there was an award for worst CGI creation, the Hyena's would be odds on favourite.

Sound

Uninspiring, I suppose. At least Beginning had a superb soundtrack, whereas Dominion's is as insipid as they come. There is a distinct lack of imagination, even during the climax, such as it is. I cannot seriously recall any musical queues nor can I remember even a mildly exciting use of SFX. I am sure that the rear speakers were used, and the sub - even both at the same time! But I really can't be sure as I would appear to have wiped the memory of this title from my mind. I suppose that centre clarity is okay, but this is like saying a mouldy strawberry looks okay in amongst a bowl of spider eggs.

Extras

Deleted scenes and a commentary are all you get. The commentary is actually quite good, information coming across thick and fast. Interestingly, the director is very critical of his movie, pointing out ideas that should have worked better, why the movie isn't scary and other remarks. Some superb CGI work is also pointed out, where scenes are augmented buy CGI inserts. I didn't spot these, so I wonder why the hyenas were so badly realised.

Deleted scenes, as always, are rather mundane. If they were any good then they would be in the movie.
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist
A missed opportunity with a weak story that should have been fixed at the inception, and not form the basis of two less than impressive movies.
