Picture
Making the most of the traditional costume design, the bold colour schemes and Yuen Wo-Ping's magnificent choreography, the anamorphic 2.35:1 transfer is never less than impeccable.
Sound
You get Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks in the original Mandarin and an English dub. The Cantonese and Thai mixes from the R3 disc are missing, but that shouldn't be a problem for most. On both tracks, the dialogue and Oscar-winning score is always crystal clear, and the surround FX are fantastic, particularly during the numerous action sequences. Note: the language track defaults to Mandarin with subtitles off.
Extras
Beautiful animated/scored menus, 11 subtitle languages, US trailer, international trailer, trailers for Vertical Limit and Not One Less, Making of... dicumentary, commentary by director Ang Lee and producer/co-writer James Schamus, 14min interview with Michelle Yeoh, extensive photo gallery (scored), bio/filmogs for Lee, Schamus, Yeoh, Yun-fat and Wo-ping. It's good to see nothing was lost in the translation.
Probably the most accessible martial arts movie ever, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will delight for years to come
