Charlie's Angels Superbit Deluxe Edition DVD Review
SRP: £24.95

Picture

Presented in 2.35:1 Anamorphic widescreen the image is just stunning to look at. There are no signs of dirt or grain in the print, instead everything looks clean and crisp. Colours used for this production are over the top, yet the transfer carries this off with no problems at all, Colours are strong with no bleed present and fleshtones are natural and extremely detailed. Blacks are solid with excellent shadow detail, and this makes for a very fine transfer indeed.

Sound

The disc offers both Dolby Digital and dts soundtracks and the sound mix is dynamic and aggressive throughout. The movie style gives plenty of opertunity for over the top surround effects, and that's exactly what you get. The fight scene in the china town alleyway, has a stomping house track in the background as the three Angels fight with the slim guy. Punches and kicks are accompanied by a deep bass thud as they land on their target, with split surround effects of kicks swooping across the soundstage. The entire track is richly dynamic with crisp dialogue and thunderous LFE effects and both the Dolby and dts tracks execute the mix brilliantly, with just a subtle difference favouring the dts mix.

Is this the shape of things to come? This is a Superbit Deluxe edition which contains a second disc full of extra features. Contained within are a look at the next Angels movie and Trailer, deleted and extended scenes, wire work featuette, Music Videos from Destiny's Child & Apollo 440 and finally 4 featurettes on Costumes, Action, Set design and the Director. Charlie
Sexy over the top action and adventure, with a brilliant picture and soundtrack, and it comes with extras too.
