SRP: £29.99

Picture

Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen the image is above average, looking sharp and detailed for the majority of the running time. The garish colours of 1970's life are captured perfectly with no signs of bleed or bloom present. Skin tones are natural and blacks are solid with some good shadow detail on show. Once or twice the image did look a little dark, as if the lighting of certain scenes where no quite correct meaning a brief loss of detail, but overall it all looks good.

Sound

As you would expect for a comedy movie, the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack does exactly what it says on the tin. Presentation is clear and dynamic with dialogue sounding intelligible and the front speakers taking most of the action. Surrounds are used now and again to fill in the rear of the listening room during certain action scenes, but for the majority they remain quiet. Nothing special in terms of design, but the soundmix does what it has to do very well.

Extras

Extras provided on this edition are rather healthy, starting with a very funny commentary track with director Adam McKay, actor Will Farrell and an assortment of cast and crew thrown in for good measure. There's not much in the way of information on the actual shooting of the film, but the “banter” is first class. Moving on we are treated to 30 minutes of Deleted scenes, an 8 minute hilarious Gag Reel, Afternoon Delight music video, a 10 minute Interview with Burgundy, MTV Movie Awards, Production notes and Bios, Trailers and finally an audition tape for ESPN.

Great dialogue, quotable lines, excellent performances and very very funny. The DVD presentation is above par with some excellent extras. Recommended.
