Abba: Live In Concert DVD Review
SRP: £19.98

Picture

The picture quality on display is washed out and looks its age, so I suppose I can't be too critical here in respect of it's over softness. It would be unfair to evaluate this against the best picture out there, but as that is the way we score then the mark may not be high. Saying that what we have is obviously the best source possible for this rare feature looking at one of the biggest bands in the world during the 70's and early 80's. Colours are bland and lifeless and blacks appear more grey than Black, softness is also a major point regarding this print and detail, especially fine detail is non-existent. But again it is old and probably the best it has looked in a long time.

Sound

Presented here in 5.0 surround or DD2.0 the soundtrack is compressed with very little dynamic range. There is a lack of bass response and the highs don't go very high, even at reference volumes its sounds bland and lacking. It is disappointing that more could not have been done in the remixing f this package, just look at Led Zeppelins DVD and its quality regardless of age and you soon realise what a poor effort has been made here. The stereo track sounds a little better and wider than the surround mix, but both are long way from perfect.
Abba: Live In Concert

Extras

Nothing really stands out as regards to extras, we get interviews with the director and tour producer, a picture gallery, the movie trailer and a 28 page booklet with the package.
Abba: Live In Concert
A must for Abba fans only. The AV presentation is very poor for a restored piece of work and very much looks its age.
