Picture
As seems to be the rule of thumb, the most terrible movies receive some of the best transfers and this is no exception. With a dust free print (probably due to no-one seeing it), no form of grain, artifacting or haloing, this is a superb transfer. Colours are bright and vivid, for example the greens of the vegetation and black levels are dark without compromising the detail. While most of the time it can be quite dark, we do have several moments of extreme colouring, such as the bright orange of the holodisc, which doesn't show any signs of bleeding. I can really criticise the transfer, unlike the movie itself.
Sound
Again, terrible movie with good sound syndrome strikes again. With a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, we get a lively affair. LFE is one of the first things you will notice, with the stomp of the dinosaur's footsteps, but even more aggressive is when the volcano erupts. It certainly is a soundtrack to give your sub a bit of a workout. But it doesn't stop there, as the rear speakers really come to life in the jungle and add a superb sense of “being there”, with some nice ambient sounds. The soundtrack for the movie however isn't a highlight, sounding not to dissimilar to some TV Shows, but that's probably reflected in the fact it does seem very low budget. I would also say that for a Dolby soundtrack it is quite loud in the same manner as you notice DTS soundtracks sound slightly louder than the Dolby ones. If you want an engaging and loud soundtrack, this fits the bill.
Extras
As mentioned, we have 2 trailers for this movie and nothing else, and as previously mentioned, they contradict each other, but they do make the movie seem better than it truly is.
There now follows a public service announcement. AVOID.
Seriously, I can't put my intelligence on hold when the flaws are this bad. It has a nice picture and it has a nice soundtrack, but if you really have to watch it, try and make sure there are no sharp objects around, as you may well be tempted to use them.
