    xXx Review
Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is an extreme sports fan, famed for his ridiculous stunts and pranks on those in power. He thinks of himself as a modern day rebel, fighting for skateboarders, extreme sports fans, rock music and basically today's misunderstood youth. He despises the system and the Government, and in the opening scenes of the movie, he steals a US senator's Corvette and drives it off a bridge being filmed for his next extreme video. After the stunt Xander is arrested by the NSA and in particular Agent Gibbons (Samuel L Jackson), Gibbons is tired of the conventional US spies being out of date and killed in the field, so he looks for the next generation of spy. Xander is put through two tests by the agent and is then asked to work for his country as a spy! He is assigned to Prague to track a group called Anarchy 99, and its leader Yorgi (Marton Csokas) who just happens to seek World Domination.

The producers of this movie were clearly out to try and take the 007 crown for the next generation; however it falls short of its goal for two reasons. Firstly the script and secondly the acting are dire, and I really feel these are the only reasons why this movie didn't achieve its goal. The movie plays for the laughs and over the top action and is aware of its own ridiculousness and this makes for some mildly entertaining viewing. But had the characters and script been developed a little bit more, we might very well have seen the next spy franchise worthy of taking the 007 crown.
