    With another presidential election looming
in the States, what better time to catch up
with the fictional shenanigans of President
Bartlet (Martin Sheen) and his staff?
In this six-disc box set you get 22
episodes including an opener, Isaac and
Ishmael, which stands outside the normal
plot-lines and which acts as a commentary
on the events of 9:11; followed by the
season premiere, then episodes about a
    re-election campaign, one of the
characters suffering from MS, trouble at an
embassy in Haiti, the fight to repeal a tax
and take on the tobacco lobby, and
    marriage and boyfriend problems.
    The picture's 16:9 but it's nonanamorphic,
    so it looks pretty grotty
when it's expanded to widescreen. For
sound you have a choice of English or
French in Dolby stereo - perfectly
adequate but nothing fancy - and
there's a lot of mumbling going on so it's
    fortunate that extras include multilanguage
    subtitles, although that's the
    extent of the extras.
