    The Thing DVD Review
    SRP: £19.99

    Picture

Despite the age of the film, the print offered on the DVD is in immaculate condition. The charnel house which houses the remains of the Norwegian research station in Chapter 7 is cloaked in vast swathes of darkness, punctuated by sharp areas of light, and yet never loses clarity or displays artefact. The look at the creature in Chapter 13 packs the screen with glistening detail and never shows any lack of delineation.
    The Thing Picture

    Sound

This is a cracking 5.1 remix that kicks off in style with a helicopter roaring across your speakers in Chapter 2. Also, look out for the destruction of Blair's 'project' in Chapter 33 which wraps you in the explosion. Superb.
    The Thing Sound

    Extras

An 80-minute doco packed with deleted footage and concept art; a commentary from Carpenter and Russell; a variety of annotated photo galleries; storyboards; the original theatrical trailer; bios for Carpenter and Russell; production notes.
