    The Matrix Review
Easily the best action movie of 1999, The Matrix is a frantic chase through a cyberpunk future. The world has been taken over by machines, and the majority of humanity is unaware, trapped within a giant virtual reality world known as the Matrix. Neo (Reeves) is contacted by a group of humans who believe that he might be The One, the person the prophecies say will destroy the machines. So begins a frantic battle for supremacy and survival both in and out of the Matrix.
While it's undoubtedly an entertaining action film, boding incredibly well for the two planned sequels, The Matrix is not without some major problems - Reeves is as wooden as ever, and the amount of exposition in the film is simply ridiculous, with the middle 45mins simply repeating the same facts over and over again. At least on DVD you can skip through it! Still, the special effects are stunning. If you miss this movie you're missing what DVD is all about.
