The Fast And The Furious DVD Review
    SRP: £19.99

    Picture

A resonant and booming 5.1, with just about enough subtlety not to overwhelm. It's more bass than anything, but the high whirr of screeching tires is most effective. Even without watching the pictures you get the feeling of being in a race. Inevitably dialogue suffers in comparison to the effects.
The Fast And The Furious Picture

    Sound

The picture is clear, though slightly dark. Everyone's skin glistens with sweat and the cars shine with their metallic finishes. It's a glorious 2.35:1 with plenty of scope for the set pieces - big races and lots of pretty people walking menacingly towards camera.

    Extras

Besides a hilarious introductory lecture on why it's bad to drive cars fast, a great commentary by director Rob Cohen tops a very impressive package. Special features include a making of... featurette and another on the editing process. Racer X, the article that inspired the film, is also included. There is a multiple camera angle stunt sequence, a visual effects montage, interactive special effects, music videos deleted scenes and music highlights. But wait, there's more... production notes, cast and filmmakers' filmographies, theatrical trailers and DVD-ROM features. There is also a camera combo Easter egg. It almost seems as if the film is an extra and the special features are the main event.

    Verdict

Full of beautiful cars and good looking people, proves it's still possible to make a really dumb film and get away with it.
