  • What is the Samsung UE78KS9000?

Believe it, or not, this 78-inch 4K HDR TV isn’t the biggest curved SUHD TV Samsung has in its range for 2016, there’s also an 88” model, in addition to the UE65KS9000. All the models support High Dynamic Range Video, wider colour gamuts – thanks to Quantum Dot – and all come Ultra HD Alliance Premium TV approved. The 78UEKS9000 boasts Ultra HD resolution as well as Full Array Local Dimming. As per the rest in the series, the 78” KS9000 is powered by the Tizen operating system and will come IoT (Internet of Things) ready.

This is a preview of the forthcoming UE78KS900 model and will be replaced with the full in-depth review as soon as we have measured and reviewed the final retail sample. In the meantime here is a rundown of the features we can expect to see.

    KS9000 Picture Quality Features

To meet the UHD Premium standards, the UE78KS9000 is capable of reaching 1,000 nit peak brightness, with a deepest black level of 0.05 nits. The Samsung TVs are the only ones to sport eco-friendly, 10-bit Quantum Dot panels. There’s moth-eye technology, too, which Samsung is calling Ultra Black, and it should greatly reduce unwanted reflections and glare. Of course, the UE78KS9000 features an Ultra HD, 3840 x 2160 panel and there’s a Full Array Local Dimming system for precise highlights. The KS9000 is said to reach 98% of the DCI colour space and a bezel-less design is intended to make images look as they are floating on-air.
