Philips 55OLED803 4K TV Preview

Entry level OLED with P5 and Ambilight

by Phil Hinton
The 803 is Philips's entry-level OLED TV and will be released later this year in both 55" and 65" screen sizes. This new model combines 900nits of peak light output and the P5 processing engine, which allows the set to reach UHD Premium and Philips own HDR Perfect standard, along with support for HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. Powered by the Android M Smart TV system, the set features an ultra-fast quad core processor and 16GB of expandable onboard memory. It will also launch with Google Assistant built-in, adding the potential for full spoken control of the TV and twin remote controls.

The 803 features a new minimalist design, with a super-narrow bezel in a brushed metallic finish that is complemented by two narrow, horizontal metal feet set at right angles to the screen. A razor thin chassis also allows a near seamless connection to the three-sided Ambilight technology and the sound quality matches the set’s overall performance thanks to the inclusion of Philips patented and powerful triple ring technology and DTS HD Premium Sound compatibility.
