The image is presented as a full-frame anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 image and is surprisingly good. The colours and vividness are superb and if anything, better than the original TV broadcast. Obviously it is still a TV show so it doesn't have that filmic look to it but technically there are absolutely no complaints about the picture on these discs. One of the best TV show DVD images I've seen and this was backed up by the 8.6 Mbps bitrate.

The sound here is nothing special - like most TV shows it is presented in stereo, in this case Dolby Digital 2.0. I can't criticise the sound as it is entirely normal for a TV show and although not particularly dynamic is never a problem. The dialogue, which is the most important thing here, is perfectly clear and rich enough.

As this review covers three volumes of episodes, there are extras split across each disc. These take a similar format on each disc and are as follows:
    Volume 1

2 outtakes from two of the experiments (Wiping Credit Card (2m32s) and Coin De-railment (1m55s)). Myths Revisited - this is where the guys return to some of the Myths they covered during the series and address criticisms or comments from the audience and re-do some of the experiments. On this disc we have; Mobile Phone (6m45s), Exploding Implants (4m5s) and Third Rail (5m33s).Volume 2

2 outtakes from two of the experiments (Buried Alive (2m09s) and Cola Myths (2m44s)). Volume 3

1 outtake from one of the experiments (Alcatraz Escape (1m40s)) and one Bonus Myth (Pop Rocks & Cola (2m20s)).
    Mythbusters: Vol 1-3 Extras

Mythbusters has that magic ingredient - chemistry - both between the main presenters and the formula of the show. I heartily recommend this to anyone as it is both fun and educational. This review covered the first three volumes of the Australian release split over three separate discs - the picture is superb but the quality of extras varies between volumes. Overall, it is one of those shows that you come across during an ad break and end up watching the whole thing and losing track of time - top stuff.
Suggested retail price when reviewed: £9.99
