The print is presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen and it looks great from the first scene and throughout. There are slight signs of edge enhancement around text on screen but there are no other digital artefacts present and the image is free from dirt or scratches. Colours look rich and well saturated with flesh tomes looking natural. The image is not as sharp as you would hope for but is acceptable without being to distracting. Overall this is a very good print which does the job without to many problems.
    Magnolia: The DTS Edition Picture

Magnolia is a dialogue heavy movie but don't let that put you off as the Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio tracks are quite full bodied and enveloping. Dynamics are good with dialogue being intelligible and the music used to tell the story from Amiee Mann has her vocals leaping at you from the screen. In fact the music and score is used to great effect feeding the surrounds and enveloping the sound field.

Comparing the Dolby Digital and DTS tracks and there are some subtle differences to be found mostly in a wider and slightly more dynamic feel in the favour of the DTS track, but there's not a great deal in it to be honest. Both are very good.

    Magnolia: The DTS Edition Extras

Magnolia is a captivating drama and is presented here with an excellent transfer and top notch Dolby and DTS digital sound. Whether it's worth importing for the DTS track will be up to you.
