    What is the LG OLED77G6?

Also known as the LG Signature G6 OLED TV, this top-tier 77-inch flat OLED TV comes ready for HDR (High Dynamic Range) video, with the added bonus of DolbyVision. It’s been deemed worth of UltraHD Alliance Premium certification, meaning it meets a demanding set of entry-criteria and the LG G6 OLED also sports a 4K Ultra HD resolution, wider colour gamuts and much increased brightness over the 2015LG OLED TVs. The LG OLED77G6 also benefits from LG’s new and improved webOS3.0 Smart TV platform.

This is a preview of the upcoming OLED77G6 model and will be replaced with the full in-depth review as soon as we have measured and reviewed the final retail sample. In the meantime here is a rundown of the features we can expect to see.

    G6 OLED Picture Quality Features

With LG’s ColourPrime Pro technology on-board, the G6 boasts a claimed colour space that is 99% of DCI-P3. Support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) video even extends to the inclusion of Dolby Vision for what could be the ultimate experience. The approval of an OLED TV to meet a high peak brightness is slightly less than that for LED TVs but with a claimed peak luminance over 540 nits, it will provide outstanding contrast; especially when you consider the requirements for deep black levels are far more demanding for OLED at 0.0005 nits, maximum. That’s a potential on-screen contrast ratio of more than 1 million to one! The Signature G6 OLED uses a 10-bit panel with 10-bit processing and LG promises has further improved their image mapping process to overcome some of the shortcomings of the earlier OLED TVs.

    Smart TV and Other Specs

LGwebOS 3.0 offers three particular features: Magic Zoom, Magic Mobile Connection and an upgraded Magic Remote. Magic Zoom enables users to magnify objects and letters without any degradation in picture quality. And with Magic Mobile Connection, users can connect a mobile phone to their LG SMART TV via the LG TV Plus App on their mobile device to access mobile apps on the TV screen. The upgraded Magic Remote is designed to make controlling set-top boxes (STB) easier with the addition of buttons on the remote. The Screen Remote feature has also been redesigned to simplify the user interface for less clutter and more convenience. The G6 also has a stand that works as a soundbase as well as including all the processing and connections and it looks very nifty indeed.
