INME - White Butterfly Caught Live DVD Review

    Picture

Even with a high bitrate, the image isn't particularly great by DVD standards. This is by and large due to the cameras shooting the gig, so keeping that in mind there's nothing really wrong here. Colours are bright and vivid and there's some artifacting as well, which mars the image but again, if you're using low-tech cameras, then it will show. Shame, but then it generally fits with the gig. If you're filming at Wembley, you use the real deal, if you're shooting at the Astoria, then you're using something probably small and compact and it shows.

    Sound

With a Dolby Digital 5.1 and Stereo soundtrack, I'll say this straight off - stick with the stereo soundtrack. The 5.1 mix sounds pretty hollow in comparison, but if you stick with the stereo soundtrack then it has a more dynamic feel with more warmth and feeling in the music than the 5.1 soundtrack. Some concerts are like this, some are and this is definitely one where the surround soundtrack is very much a gimmick.

    Extras

Other than the gallery, the only other extra is a backstage chat. I'll be honest, I listened to about three quarters of it and got bored. Having said that, they sound a little more eloquent here than the showmanship that the band display in concert. But it's definitely fans only extra.

    Verdict

Well, if you're into easy listening, move along, there's nothing to see here. But if you like to rock out, then you're going to love this, but listen to it in stereo. Having not heard INME before, I was pleasantly surprised and their CD is going to make it onto my iPod so I can have a listen on the tube every now and then - and that's the best recommendation I can give.
