Tim Burton is one of our favourite American directors. His off-beat sensibilities, visual style and skewed world-view nearly always surprise and impress us, and this reissue of his 1990 classic Edward Scissorhands continues the tradition. The fairly-tale story of an unfinished mechanical boy who brings beauty and goodness to a group of jealous suburbanites is beautifully paced and packed with fantastic performances (even the usually dismal Ryder shines in her supporting role). A beautiful film which deserves to be in every household.
