Don'T Look Now DVD Review
PictureThe anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer is far better than any of us were expecting. Though grainy and a little soft during a couple of scenes, the transfer holds up extremely well compared to other films of the era, thanks to plenty of detail, strong colours and fidelity levels.
SoundThe original dual-mono soundtrack has been restored for this DVD release, meaning that even if it doesn't offer anything in the way of surround effects, it is still technically flawless in its presentation. The dialogue is clear and naturalistic and the music presentation offers surprising range. Anything more extravagant would really have been a waste of time.
ExtrasIn addition to the original trailer and pages from the theatrical campaign book as DVD-ROM material, the real jewel is the Looking Back documentary. This excellent retrospective features interviews with Roeg, the cinematographer and the editor.
VerdictThough a little lacking in quantity, the quality of the extras and the transfer ensures that Don't Look Now is a must-have disc.
