Destiny's Child: World Tour DVD Review

Hop To

by Phil Hinton Jul 1, 2003

    SRP: £19.99

    Picture

Filmed live the image is actually very good for a Music concert. There is plenty of detail in the image with only a few instances where there is colour blooming, other wise everything looks good with a certain sheen to the image. The strong colours of the lighting and the costumes are reproduced very well and I could not see any examples of pixilation or other digital artefacts present. The image does now and again look a little soft, but overall this is a good presentation.

    Sound

Presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby 2.0, the sound mix is very aggressive and dynamic. The 5.1 mix uses the rear surround channels for conveying the crowd and certain panning effects, with the front channels providing a dynamic and forceful presentation with some brilliantly deep and controlled bass. I just could not fault the audio presentation, which is a good example of how music DVD's should be mixed, giving the listener full on dynamics and the feeling of being at the live event, very good.

    Extras

Included as extras on this disc are discography and biography supplement on the band members and three bonus videos. The first video is from Beyonce's baby sister Solange with “Feelin' You” then we have Kelly and her hit “Stole” and finally Michelle with the amazing “Heard a Word”
    Destiny

    Verdict

A very well produced DVD from Destiny's Child with good Visuals and excellent sound along with a few bonus extras.
