Big Fat Liar DVD Review
MSRP: £19.99

Picture

When Universal issued Big Fat Liar on Region 1 DVD it was 4:3. Over here in Britain, we get an anamorphic transfer of the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Result! As for the quality of the image, it's hard to fault. Colours burst off the screen, blacks are deep and shadow detail is excellent, although there is some edge-enhancement visible.

Sound

Big Fat Liar features both DD 5.1 and DTS tracks that are equal to the strong picture quality. The latter mix offers a tad more dynamic range, but both offer plenty of activity across the speakers and clear dialogue.

Extras

The disc kicks off with the usual dull promotional featurette, and follows it up with a couple of fun commentaries (one from writer Dan Schneider and director Shawn Levy, the other with Frankie Muniz). Next up is reel of almost 15 minutes' worth of deleted and alternate scenes, followed by a trivia game that provides access to a outtake reel, an interactive map of Universal Studios featuring clips from the film, an Are You a Big Fat Liar? set-top game, and the trailer.A fun kids film on another well-specified Universal DVD, and well done for releasing it in widescreen over here.
