by Mark Hodgkinson Dec 21, 2016 at 6:44 PM

  • Zappiti has announced its new line of media players with its 4K HDR range containing 3 models.
Namely there is the Zappiti Mini 4K HDR, the most compact set-top box; the Zappiti One 4K HDR which is equipped with a hot swap internal SATA HDD 3.5" rack and finally there’s the Zappiti Duo 4K HDR billed as the world’s first 4K HDR media player equipped with a hot swap internal SATA HDD 3.5" dual rack for a total capacity up to 32 TB.

They are claimed to support almost all video and audio formats, codecs and file containers, including all modern video standards such as HDMI 2.0, Ultra HD 4K, HDR, and 4K60p, the Zappiti 4K HDR media player range is moving in to new territory for the company. The Zappiti 4K HDR media players are compatible with most audio and video formats such as 10-bit HEVC, ISO Blu-ray, M2TS, MKV 4K, MVC 3D with 3D subtitles, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and high-resolution lossless audio files up to 32 Bit / 192 kHz. This new player range is also compatible with Zappiti Media Center v4 for an integrated home cinema setup.

Today’s consumers expect a high-quality viewing experience on the new Ultra HD Premium televisions. The challenge for service providers is finding a media player capable of delivering this type of experience, affordably,” said Pete Baker, Global Representative of Zappiti. “Our new Zappiti 4K HDR series offer robust performance with impressive, crisp, and crystal-clear picture quality; delivering 4 times the resolution of Full HD and High Dynamic Range, without any noise (totally fanless)! By offering the integrated Zappiti Media Center app, the Zappiti 4K HDR series elevates the Movie and TV Show viewing experience to a whole, new level. Zappiti provides an astonishing GUI, based on movie cover art navigation, to ensure the best possible customer user experience.”

The devices are powered by the Realtek RTD1295 processor, which proved very capable on the Zidoo X9s Android Media player so it will be interesting to see how Zappiti handles the chipset and if they can make any improvements.

The Zappiti 4K HDR range will be available Worldwide in January 2016.
