XGIMI launches Aura 4K laser TV

Projecting an aura

by Andy Bassett

XGIMI’s brand new Aura 4K laser TV is an ultra short throw (UST) projector which can deliver screen sizes of up to 150-inches and is designed for the living room experience.

The Aura is Chinese manufacturer XGIMI’s first laser projector and its ultra short throw format can deliver true 8.3 million pixel 4K images at sizes up to 150-inches, dwarfing TV sizes available at an equivalent price. As well as a 4K image, the Aura packs in plenty of connectivity, Harman Kardon sound and an Android TV experience to make the Aura an option as a centrepiece for big-screen living-room entertainment, whether that be TV viewing, movies, sports, music or games.

The Aura projects ultra HD and HDR10 images starting at 100-inches from as little as 8-inches from the projection surface before reaching a screen size of 150-inches at a distance of just over 17-inches. There’s also MEMC technology for smoother action in fast content such as sport, and XGIMI’s 8 point manual keystone correction technology makes for an easy way to ensure the best possible image during the set-up process.

The laser light source brings the benefits of the technology, including fast boot up and shut down processes along with a close on ten year lifespan and the 2400 lumens brightness delivers a crisp image suited to the light ambient conditions of living room viewing.

Immersion is further enhanced by the four 15W Harman Kardon speakers - 2 tweeters and two woofers - which deliver 2x 30W of Dolby Audio and DTS supporting audio.

Wireless connectivity includes dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 meaning music can easily be streamed to the Aura’s on board speakers while Chromecast built-in means mirroring and casting of content on mobile phones is an option. Hardware ports include a LAN, 3x USB 2.0, a 3.5mm jack and 3x HDMI 2.0 sockets that will allow games consoles, cable boxes and Blu-Ray players to be connected to the Aura. There’s also an optical output and headphone jack.

The built-in Android 10 TV interface provides a familiar, intuitive interface and gives instant access to over 5,000 apps, plus, with major streaming services such as Disney+ and Amazon Prime, there’s always content to hand.

Tex Yang, vice president of global sales at XGIMI corporate, explained, “The XGIMI Aura has been created for the home environment with a design that naturally blends into any decor.” He added, “We are seeing the shift in technology that has already impacted every other area of our lives coming to our home entertainment. With the XGIMI Aura, your next TV is not a TV.”

The Aura UST laser projector is available globally on the XGIMI website with an MSRP of $2499.
