World’s first Planar Magnetic in-ear headphones announced
Audeze, a manufacturer of high-end headphones, has just launched its first in-ear headphones with planar magnetic technology, which is something not seen in the sector before.
In actual fact, planar magnetic is something hardly ever seen in the over head/on ear headphone market, let alone in something so small as the iSINE range. The technology has trickled down from the company’s LCD series, including patented Fluxor magnets and Fazor waveguides, the three new models range in price from $399 all the way up to $2,495.
As the first in-ear planar magnetic headphones, Audeze claims they raise the bar for audiophile sound quality with lower distortion, superior bass response (said to be flat to 10Hz), and a wider soundstage than other in-ear designs. Designed and assembled at Audeze's California factory with industrial style by BMW's DesignWorks, they are individually matched to within ± 1dB.
The $399 iSINE 10 model should be easy to drive with an impedance of 16 ohms. It includes a Lightning cable and a standard audio cable with 3.5mm stereo plug. The $599 iSINE 20 has a longer voice coil (24 ohms) and other improvements, offering higher resolution and detail than the iSINE 10. The $2,495 LCD i3 features the finest drivers, utilising the same nano-grade film as Audeze's $4000 LCD4 headphones, along with premium materials.
All three models include Audeze's Cipher Lightning cable, which is Apple MFI certified, and takes digital audio directly from the iOS device and uses its own built-in DAC and amplifier to enhance audio quality.
"An avant-garde design without a care for the status quo, this innovation rewrites the rules for in-ear earphones. We are really proud of these groundbreaking headphones as we push headphone innovation," said CEO Sankar Thiagasamudram.
The range begins shipping in October 2016 and can be pre-ordered today from www.audeze.com and Audeze retailers.
