Updated 15-Jul-2021 - Amazon Prime Video: The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown (30th July)

Disney has probably got its most eye-catching monthly content lineup ever with the highly anticipated arrival of MCU entry Black Widow and theme-park-ride based Jungle Cruise (and let’s face it Disney has got some form with movies based on theme-park attractions). Both movies have been delayed by the pandemic and both will now make it to cinemas and Premier Access on Disney+ giving movie fans the best of both worlds.

Elsewhere, DisneyPlus also has new TV shows in the form of Monsters at Work which sees the return of Mike and Sulley from Monsters Incorporated, with Sulley now CEO of the company and welcoming a new intake of characters eager to pick up the reins. There’s also a sequel/reboot of Turner & Hooch for fans of 80s slobbery dog detectives.

Once again Amazon is keeping its announcements to a minimum but Disney won't have it all its own way in July and the popularity of Chris Pratt’s The Tomorrow War over on Prime Video along with the return of Ted Lasso to Apple TV Plus shouldn't be underestimated.

As ever, although we’ve tried to be as UK specific as possible, streaming dates can change, content can sometimes be territory specific and shows can even get pulled or added at the very last minute by the streamers themselves as they sort out scheduling or licensing issues.

We’ll keep updating the article as new content gets announced, so please check back.

Jungle Cruise - Premier Access (2021, Action, Adventure, Comedy. Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Paul Giamtti, Dir. Jaume Collet-Serra)

Set during the early 20th century, a cynical, wisecracking riverboat captain named Frank takes virtuous but intrepid English scientist Dr. Lily Houghton and her foppish brother on a mission into the jungle to find the Tree of Life, which possesses healing properties that Lily believes holds the key to improving modern medicine. Hot Shots! (1991, Comedy, Action.  Charlie Sheen, Cary Elwes, Valeria Golino, Lloyd Bridges, Dir. Jim Abrahams)

‘Topper’ Harley, a psychologically unstable fighter pilot, is entrusted with the responsibility of destroying hostile weapons facilities while competing against a rival pilot and overcoming the ghost of his father.

Although somewhat dated by ‘cameos’ by Saddam Hussein and Pope John Paul II, this features the tried and tested Jim Abrahams’ ‘Airplane’ approach whereby the sheer number, velocity and range of gags means that the hit rate is satisfyingly high. Although ostensibly a parody of Top Gun, other movies firmly in the mickey-take sights are 9+1⁄2 Weeks, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Dances with Wolves, Marathon Man, Rocky, Superman and Gone with the Wind.
