Having become a huge success in the US since their inception in 2002, US TV and audio company, Vizio release their first UK product courtesy of distributor, Exertis.
Not especially well known in the UK, US based Vizio are testing the waters across the pond with the launch of their SB362An 2.1 soundbar, at an affordable £149.

Within the bar’s 36-inch (914mm) length are housed dual 2.25-inch full range drivers plus double 3-inch subwoofers. Connectivity comprises of a 3.5mm stereo audio analogue input plus USB and optical inputs. Wireless comes courtesy of Bluetooth, so streaming music is possible. Note that HDMI is lacking, which is par for the course in this price bracket.

Speaking of brackets, a wall mount is included in the price to add to the value for money package. There’s a remote control included too.

For those keen to experience immersive audio during their movie viewing at home but lack the space or budget, the SB362An features DTS Virtual:X technology which uses clever processing to give the perception of height in the soundfield. The processing will heighten and widen stereo sound up to a point but works best with audio that has been specially mixed for height and surround channels.

Part of Vizio’s phenomenal success in the States, is down to the aggressively affordable pricing strategy the company follows and with the features and cost of the SB362An soundbar, it looks like that approach is coming over to Blighty too. Whether that means that affordable, well specced Vizio TVs will follow is something that we’ll have to wait and see.
