Thonet & Vander launches Kugel 700W Bluetooth speakers in Europe

The German multinational audio brand has announced availability in Europe of its latest speakers, the Kugel 700W Bluetooth near field studio monitors.

Thonet & Vander has followed up its Kurbis Bluetooth speaker, announced a few months ago, by ramping up the power and increasing the size of the bass driver in the form of the Kugel Studio Monitor. Kugel translates from the German as ‘bullet’ so that goes some way to indicating what the company were aiming for. The fact that Kurbis translates as ‘pumpkin’ is probably best left unexplored.

With its 700W of peak power, built-in dual amp and 6.5-inch subwoofer with advanced bass technology, the Kugel transforms any home into a semi-professional recording studio, reckons Thonet & Vander.

The subwoofer is constructed from aramid fibres which gives the speaker its distinctive yellow colouration. The upper ring of the suspension assembly is made of elastic rubber, which allows greater displacement sensitivity and resistance to sound ‘bumps’. Combined with the speaker’s enhanced ‘rage’ bass technology which extends the low frequencies, the bass response maintains clarity and natural tone even at 700W.

The 1-inch tweeter is made of silk, a fibre known for its lightness and sensitivity which enables pure reproduction of high frequencies. The suspension ring also contains silk to help optimise precision.

The drivers are housed inside an HDAA (High Density Acoustic Absorber) which is a natural polymer with a wooden finish that creates a rigid and dense material that prevents vibration and leakage of sound, enabling a more accurate, efficient and sustainable performance.

Control of the output tone and volume can be adjusted by the onboard ergonomic controls or by using the included easy to use IR remote control.

The Kugel uses Bluetooth 4.0 aptX technology so can handle Hi-Res music files and also includes RCA 3.5mm Stereo and S/PDIF optical inputs to make it compatible with smartphones, tablets, DJ controllers, TV’s, computers or any other modern output device. It is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, connecting seamlessly to provide full voice control.
