Quantum Dots like Samsung, Dolby Vision and Atmos unlike Samsung

TCL has announced availability and pricing of its latest 4K Quantum Dot televisions to head for the UK - the C715K and C815K.

TCL first revealed its TV release plans for the UK back in January at CES and, with the EC788 and EP658 ranges officially announced last month, it’s now the turn of the C71 and C81 4K Quantum Dot based midrange models to be made available for UK viewers.

Due from June 1st, the C71 (C715K) and C81 (C815K) ranges were announced during a European QLED TV launch webinar and host a pleasing range of features including support for both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision dynamic metadata HDR formats, Dolby Atmos object based audio via Onkyo sound systems and Freeview Play.

In addition, both series use Android 9.0 in conjunction with TCL’s own smart functions which are powered by the company’s proprietary AI-IN artificial intelligence technology. Chromecast, Google Assistant and Alexa support are all included in the package.

The more affordable C715K models feature a 4K VA panel with a Direct LED backlight and come in 50-, 55- and 65-inch models which start at £499. Connectivity includes three HDMI 2.0 ports and two USB 2.0 sockets.

The step up C815K models come in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes with the possibility of a 75-inch version coming later in the year. The C81 TVs have an edge-lit VA panel with the 65-model sporting a 100Hz native panel for improved motion handling while the 55-inch uses TCL’s Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation (MEMC) Motion Clarity Pro algorithm to smooth fast-moving images. Sound wise, the C81 improves on the C71’s dual 10W speakers by upping the power to 12W each and adding a 15W rear subwoofer.

Clearly looking to take on Samsung, the world’s biggest seller of TVs, with its own range of QLED models, TCL hopes to offer consumers something extra by adding Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which Samsung TVs don’t support, for a more affordable price.

The C715K models will be priced as follows:

50-inch - £499

55-inch - £599

65-inch - £799

The C815K models will be priced as follows:

55-inch - £649

65-inch - £849
