SVS launches 1000 Pro Series subwoofers

SVS continues its mission to bring flagship subwoofer technologies to more and more bass fans with the launch of the Pro version of its most affordable 1000 models, the SB-1000 Pro and the PB-1000 Pro.

Just as the 2000 Pro series replaced the 2000 models back in December 2019, so the just launched 1000 Pro models now supersede their predecessors with the addition of flagship features including new 12-inch high-excursion drivers, Sledge STA-325D amplification, 50MHz Analog Devices DSP, reimagined cabinet designs, and the innovative SVS subwoofer control smartphone app.

The new 1000 Pro range consists of two models, the sealed cabinet SB-1000 Pro and the ported PB-1000 Pro, eschewing the small footprint cylindrical PC models found in SVS’s 2000 Pro and 4000 ranges.

Powering both new models is a Sledge STA-325D amplifier that combines the high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency. Although dropping the power from the 2000 Pro’s 550W, the Sledge STA-325D still delivers a thunderous 325 watts RMS and 820+ watts peak power with impressively low distortion. The result is plenty of power with precise driver control.

This power is leveraged via a 50MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering, which SVS reckons is the most sophisticated DSP engine available in a home subwoofer. This delivers advanced in-room tuning, optimized frequency response curves and powerful DSP controls to maintain a sound quality that’s faithful to the source material.

The 1000 Pro all-new drivers are SVS’s own design and feature a dual ferrite magnet motor assembly with long-throw parabolic surround for extreme excursion with room-pressurizing SPLs. This works in tandem with a lightweight, rigid aluminum vented cone with composite fibre dustcap which moves large volumes of air. The overall result is clean, accurate bass, even at intense listening levels.

Originally launched with the top of the range SVS 16-Ultra subwoofers, the SVS subwoofer DSP smartphone app has trickled down the range and is now available with the company’s affordable new range. Providing the most convenient way to control volume, access multiple DSP functions and adjust crossover frequencies, users can tweak the three-band parametric EQ, polarity, room gain and more, all from the room’s sweet spot.

The included custom presets provide one touch optimisation for music, movies, gaming and the app also allows naming of the subwoofer for easy preset switching along. Other control options include the choice of standby mode, reinitialising of factory settings as well as full Bluetooth control along with real time visualisation of adjustments via bi-directional feedback, also replicated on the rear panel subwoofer interface.

To support all these changes, SVS has updated the 1000 Pro series cabinet design to include an extra thick MDF front baffle and rigid internal bracing to support the drive unit and to ensure an acoustically inert environment, reducing colouration and resonance from the cabinet, even when the deepest low frequencies are played at high volume.

Gary Yacoubian, SVS President and Managing Partner, commented, “With the 1000 Pro Series, the performance bar has been set even higher and I have no doubt audio fans will be blown away by what these subwoofers deliver.” He added, “Our engineers deployed the most advanced amplifier technology from our flagship subwoofers, while upgrading the drivers, the cabinets, and the user experience with our SVS smartphone app. Compared to their predecessors and the competition, 1000 Pro Series are a quantum leap forward.”

The SB-1000 Pro sealed subwoofer can achieve a bass extension down to 20Hz (20Hz to 270Hz +/-3 dB)  with SVS claiming “reference subwoofer performance has never been available near this price from a cabinet of this size."

Meanwhile, the PB-1000 Pro ported model can reach 17Hz to 260Hz +/-3dB in standard mode and 19Hz to 260Hz +/-3dB in sealed mode while the new dual port design maximizes airflow and driver motion for greater output, while eliminating the potential for port turbulence.

The SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer is available in Premium Black Ash for $499.99 and Piano Gloss Black/Piano Gloss White for $599.99.
