Star Wars Episode VIII Begins Shooting
Lucasfilm announces new cast members and the start of principal photography for Star Wars Episode VIII.
Writer/director Rian Johnson has begun shooting the next chapter in the Star Wars saga and to celebrate Lucasfilm have released a brief video. The footage actually shows the second unit shoot that took place at Skellig Michael off the coast of Ireland in September of last year; presumably to take advantage of weather conditions. Those scenes clearly pick up from where the record-breaking The Force Awakens left off and contains spoiler material if you have yet to see that film.

Now the rest of the cast have assembled for Episode VIII and among all the returning regulars, Lucasfilm have also announced some additions. Joining the cast of the as yet untitled Episode VIII will be newcomer Kelly Marie Tran, Jurassic Park star Laura Dern and Benicia Del Toro, fresh off his work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Del Toro will apparently be playing a new villain but the plot obviously remains a closely guarded secret.

Star Wars Episode VIII opens in the UK on the 15th of December 2017.

The video contains spoilers if you haven't seen Star Wars The Force Awakens.
