Sony is launching two new large-form smartphones with the Xperia T2 Ultra and the dual-SIM T2 Ultra dual.
They are essentially the same piece of hardware, save for the fact the Ultra Dual can accommodate two SIM cards.
The phones are designed specifically for emerging markets like China and Africa and will carry ‘mid-range’ pricing on release.

Emerging markets like their phones big
The Xperia T2 Ultra sports a 6-inch, 1280x720 resolution, TRILUMINOS display which extends to within 2.5 mm of the phone’s edges.
There’s also a 13 megapixel Exmor RS camera to the rear and a 1.1 megapixel Exmor R camera on the front.
The Xperia T2 Ultra has a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.4Ghz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space but that’s expandable with microSD cards. Power is supplied by a 3,000mAh battery with Sony's Battery STAMINA mode.
Essentially mid-range specifications
"Xperia T2 Ultra will lead the category through its combination of advanced display and camera technologies, it will bring large-screen entertainment in an amazingly portable form factor and it will do it all whilst providing incredible value for money," said Calum MacDougall, director of Xperia marketing at Sony Mobile.
The phone will be available in black, white and purple, with pricing and availability details yet to be announced.
