Sky Movie Catalogue now available to all-comers

Sky Store means you don't have to be a customer to get at Sky's movie catalogue

Sky has made the contents of its movie rental catalogue open to all in the UK and Ireland.
Previously you had to be a Sky customer to get at the goodies but the move by Sky is part of their strategy to broaden the scope of distribution, in a similar manner to the NOW TV service, only it’s a rental rather than subscription deal.

You can actually sign in using your NOW TV credentials or Sky ID and as well as being available on the web at www.skystore.com , it’s also on the NOW TV Box, the Roku players and the YouView box. As luck would have it, we have one of each of those lying around and can confirm the service is there.
What, no HD?
The latest titles, including Man of Steel, The Hangover Part 3, Despicable Me 2 and Alpha Papa will set you back £3.49, each, with rental periods good for 30 days, although you only have 48 hours to get to the end once you’ve started playback.

There’s also lots of older titles, or ‘classics’ as they would prefer you term them ranging from 99p-£1.99, with more than 1,200 titles in the catalogue, in all.

From what we can see there is no provision for HD streaming at the moment and we’ve contacted Sky to find out if, and when, that might be coming.
£3.49 for latest titles and 'classics' start at 99p
Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store, commented: “Millions of Sky TV customers already enjoy the choice and value of Sky Store. Now we’re delighted that millions more homes can access hundreds of box office smashes alongside best-loved movie classics. All you need is an internet connection and away you go.
