Simaudio launches MOON 860A v2 power amp in North America
After its appearance at the High End Munich Show back in April, Simaudio’s MOON 860A v2 power amp will be making its North American bow at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver Colorado on 6th September.
Incorporating trickle-down technologies from the massive 888 power amplifier, the 860A v2 is a balanced differential dual-mono power amplifier that provides both exceptional transparency and an outstanding soundstage and is an evolution of earlier designs.

Indeed, it reportedly replaces the Canadian company’s 860A, 870A and 880M models since they claim the 860A v2 outperforms both the 860A and the 870A, and a mono bridged pair of 860A v2s improves on the sound quality of the industry-respected 880M.

These sonic attributes are all made possible by the MOON custom transistors used in conjunction with the award-winning zero-global feedback amplifier topology. Also featured is Class A power output (up to 5 watts) plus a new and improved circuit design at both input and gain stages. There’s also new internal bias control, a new integrated defeatable DC coupling filter and switchable AC-coupling for matching with a variety of preamplifiers.

The MOON 806A v2 is rated at 225W per channel in dual-mono mode, or 750W in monaural mode and will pair easily with virtually any loudspeaker, helping it reach its sonic potential, regardless of its load. Additionally, connecting to a MOON preamplifier will result in a transparent, detailed and accurate sound with plenty of dynamics and a significant bottom end.

Costa Koulisakis, Director of MOON Academy, said, “I can’t wait to reveal the MOON 860A v2 at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Our newest power amplifier delivers pure musical precision allowing the listener to enjoy all the hallmarks that make MOON amplifiers famous.”

The debut of the MOON 860A v2 power amplifier will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Centre.

Shipping now, the 806A v2 is available in silver, black or a hybrid two-tone and is priced at US$18,000.
