Sharp has entered into an agreement with DTS to bring DTS:X immersive sound to its next line of TV products in Europe.

After striking a deal with audio, imaging and sensing technology firm DTS, Sharp, one of Japan’s leading consumer technology brands, will implement the DTS:X immersive audio solution to its next line of TV products in Europe including the EQ Android TV series (available March 2022) and the new 4K Ultra HD 70DN5EA Android TV model (available in February 2022).

According to the press statement, “DTS:X for TV is a comprehensive immersive audio solution designed for single and dual-core TV SoC architectures and is fully backward compatible with all existing DTS-encoded content, including DTS:X and DTS-HD® Master Audio from Blu-ray Discs and DTS Digital Surround. The solution also features the latest high-efficiency DTS:X immersive streaming decoder for streaming content from OTT services. DTS:X for TV is compatible with the DTS® Virtual:X™ audio post-processing solution to deliver a truly immersive audio experience from content played over a TV’s internal speakers.”

The partnership means users of Sharp’s compatible TVs will now be able to unlock their TV’s entertainment potential. For example, the DTS:X solution for TV is a must-have to fully enjoy all the advantages of the IMAX Enhanced program, which has just announced a new collaboration with Disney+ to allow at-home viewers to watch 13 Marvel Studios’ films in IMAX’s Expanded Aspect Ratio.
