Sennheiser introduces Bluetooth IE 80S BT in-ear headphone
Bluetooth and audiophile do go together.
Sennheiser’s first audiophile Bluetooth in-ear headphone was unveiled at the recent Hong Kong High End Audio Visual Show and promises to build on the much loved IE 80S model, creating a wireless version that supports Hi-Res audio.Based around a sleek neckband design, the headphone favour listeners on the go and features one-touch access to virtual assistants such as Siri or Google Assistant. It also allows customisation via the Sennheiser Smart Control App.
The IE 80S BT headphone incorporates Sennheiser’s dynamic speaker system, which uses 10mm drivers and powerful neodymium magnets, plus a top-of-the-line AKM DAC to ensure audiophile sound quality. Sennheiser has ensured support for a range of Hi-Res codecs including LHDC, aptX HD, and AAC and the company claims the inclusion of aptX Low Latency allows for perfect synchronization with video content.
The headphone has been carefully tuned to provide a characteristic Sennheiser sound but this can be augmented using the bass boost tool on the earphone itself, or the Smart Control App which enables further customisation via a 5-band equaliser.
Using high quality, durable materials and a versatile design, the IE 80S BT's Bluetooth containing neckband section can be detached and replaced with an optional cable so the earphone can be used as a wired device if required.
To ensure comfort for the long listening sessions that the 6-hour battery life can deliver, a selection of ear adapters is included. These are made from silicone, silicone lamellar and ComplyTM Memory Foam and the choice of three sizes not only provides comfort but also contributes to passive attenuation of external noise. Add in the soft-touch finish earhooks and a secure and comfortable fit is assured for lengthy music sessions on the move.
Sennheiser’s microphone technology expertise is incorporated to deliver noise reduction that supports clear phone calls and clarity of communication with voice assistants. And among the at-a-touch controls, access to Siri and Google Assistant is via a dedicated voice assistant access button.
Ronja Harste, Product Manager Audiophile at Sennheiser explained in a statement, "The IE 80S BT earphones have been meticulously crafted to the most demanding standards.” He added further, “They not only meet Sennheiser’s exacting criteria for a high-end audio product and match the exceptional performance of their wired predecessor, but also offer a real wireless option for refined audiophiles who don’t wish to compromise on sound quality.”
The IE 80S BT will be available from mid-August for £439.
