The new Odyssey Neo G9 is the world‘s first mini-LED curved gaming monitor and features Quantum Matrix Technology.
Hot on the heels of Samsung’s recent HDR10+ compatible Odyssey G9 comes the Odyssey Neo G9 (model number G95NA) which takes many of the attributes of the former, including the HDR10+ support, and adds a Quantum Mini LED display and Quantum HDR 2000 for an improved immersive gaming experience.
The Odyssey Neo G9 uses the same mini-LED technology that is built into Samsung’s latest Neo QLED TV lineup whereby the Quantum Mini LED light source is 1/40 the size of a traditional LED module thus allowing many more LEDs for more dimming zones.
In fact, the Quantum Mini LEDs are split into 2,048 dimming zones controlled by Quantum Matrix Technology which harnesses 12-bit gradation for greater control of the light source. Meanwhile, the certified peak brightness of 2,000 nits delivered by Quantum HDR 2000, along with the 1,000,000:1 static contrast ratio, offers an increased contrast between the dark and light areas for a more lifelike image.
Elsewhere, the new Neo G9 pulls in attributes from the existing Odyssey G9 models and delivers the new Quantum Mini LED display in a 49-inch, ultra wide format with a 32:9 aspect ratio that offers Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD; 5,120 × 1,440 resolution) with a rapid, 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.
Moreover, the immersive 1000R curvature of the monitor was awarded an Eye Comfort certificate by leading international standards organisation TÜV Rheinland.
Connectivity is covered by a single Display Port 1.4 which offers Adaptive Sync along with 2x HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), while Nvidia G-SYNC Compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro deliver seamless scene-by-scene gaming action.
The glossy white exterior and futuristic rear infinity core lighting system, which includes 52 colours and five lighting effect options, will fit into most gaming setups and users will also be able to personalise their setup with the CoreSync feature.
Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, commented, “Samsung addressed the demands and expectations of even the most demanding gamers with the launch of the groundbreaking Odyssey gaming monitor portfolio last year.” He added, “Introducing the Odyssey Neo G9 equipped with the world-first Quantum Mini-LED display, we are once again excited to offer state-of-the-art gaming experience to our consumers and demonstrate our continuous leadership in the market.”
Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 with Quantum Mini LED will be available for preorder from 29th July 2021 and be available globally from 9th August 2021.
No price has been announced but the previous non mini-LED G95T Odyssey G9 had a market RRP of £1,279.
