Samsung’s new ultra wide, curved Odyssey G9 gaming display will immerse players right in the centre of the action with a fast response time, 240Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.
Unveiled at CES 2020 and now joining its Odyssey G7 stablemate, the new G9 gaming monitor promises a next generation gameplay experience by bringing together a new level of comfortable curvature, immersive interaction and top picture quality.
The 49-inch G9 is the world’s first Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD) monitor, offering a resolution of 5120×1440 along with an immersive 1000R curvature. Moreover, it is also the first monitor certified to support HDR10+, enabling it to deliver games and content in HDR quality through a combination of Quantum dot technology and an HDR1000 panel.
Coverage of the DCI-P3 wide colour gamut runs at 95-percent accompanied by 125-percent s-RGB coverage. The gaming experience is further supported by a fast 1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-SYNC compatibility and Adaptive Sync on DP1.4.
As part of the Odyssey portfolio, the G9’s CES award winning design also includes certification from international technical testing organisation TÜV Rheinland to ensure the industry’s best 1000R Curved Display performance and Eye Comfort status.
Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, commented, “Following our recent announcement of the Odyssey G7 curved gaming monitor, the G9 now joins the portfolio as the first dual QHD gaming monitor with 1000R curvature. This further solidifies Samsung’s leadership in the global gaming monitor market, with innovation happening at an unprecedented rate.” He went on, “Samsung’s Odyssey G9 curved gaming monitor takes immersive gaming to the next level, giving any gamer the upper hand.”
With 2x Display Port 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0 and 3x USB 3.0 slots, there are plenty of connection options. In addition, the G9’s futuristic glossy white design houses Infinity Core Lighting, which allows 52 different colours and five lighting effect options behind the display.
Samsung’s G9 will be available in June priced at £1,279 on the Samsung website.
