Ruark R1 Mk4 radio gets summer makeover

Ruark Audio celebrates its popular fourth generation R1 Ruark Radio, along with the arrival of summer, by introducing an eye-catching new colourway to add a feel-good factor to your home.

As summer comes and freedoms return, the Mk4 iteration of Ruark Audio’s R1 Bluetooth Radio gets a new, limited edition look in the shape of the Beach Hut Blue finish, designed to invoke the memories of long hot summer days, endless blue skies and feel-good classics.

Finished with a hand-crafted slatted Ash or Walnut wood grille, the polymer enclosure’s acoustic treatment makes it sonically inert such that, coupled with the Class A/B linear amplifier and 75mm Natural Sound+ neodymium driver, the sound output is highly listenable at all volume levels and is given the finishing touch with adaptive equalisation.

The DAB, DAB+ and FM Tuner ensure reception of both digital and analogue transmissions and the FM parameters can be set to suit both US and Japanese requirements. Support for a wide range of languages means the R1 is an international-friendly device.

A high contrast OLED display provides a real time clock readout plus programme information and the auto dimming feature adjusts to suit ambient light levels making it a perfect bedside companion. Moreover, battery back up ensures continued time and date when power is interrupted.

Control of the R1 comes courtesy of the company’s trademark, intuitive, top-mounted Rotodial Control System along with an optional remote control with 4 direct access pre-sets.

Other highlights include the high quality Bluetooth receiver for streaming from suitable sources, a USB-C charge and playback port, and a switchable auxiliary input and headphone output.

Equally at home indoors in the kitchen and bedroom, or outdoors with the optional battery pack, which will give you up to 12 hours of music, the R1 occupies a discreet footprint (175 x 130 x 135mm, HxWxD) and weighs in at 1.5kg.

The R1 Mk4 was given the thumbs up back in May when AVForums gave it a Recommended review badge.

Launching later in June, the R1 Beach Hut Blue will be limited to 1,000 units through a select retail network, including Harrods and many other quality independent retailers. The R1 Beach Hut Blue will retail for £229.
