Rotel announces MKII versions of A12, CD14 and RCD-1572 devices

Japanese Hi-Fi manufacturer Rotel has introduced the A12MKII, CD14MKII and RCD-1572MKII models as the brand continues to launch upgraded Mark II versions of its products timed to its 60th anniversary.

Continuing an ongoing process, the new the A12MKII integrated amplifier and CD14MKII and RCD-1572MKII CD players benefit from innovations and improvements to the circuit designs and enhancement to critical audio components, resulting in improved performance, accuracy and acoustic detail. Rotel reckons that “the soundstage of the new models delivers wider and more genuine presentation of the music with increased depth and natural expression.”

All models feature a new, premium Texas Instruments 32-bit digital-to-analogue converter, power supply refinements, precision acoustic coupling capacitors and circuit board layout isolation techniques designed to lower the noise floor and reduce distortion.

As well as the new DAC, the A12MKII 2x 60W Class AB amplifier also features a new digital processor and digital interface chipset plus 12 complimentary changes to the power amplifier. Meanwhile, in addition to the DAC and component changes, each MKII CD player receives an upgraded CD drive mechanism and new CD controller chipset.

The CD14MKII and RCD-1572MKII provide RCA outputs and a coaxial digital output, allowing the units to be utilised as a CD transport supporting off-board digital-to-analogue processing. The RCD-1572MKII also includes a fully balanced, fully differential XLR output rejecting external noise and lowering RF interference.

Daren Orth, Chief Technology Officer of Rotel, commented, “Rotel’s engineers leveraged over 60 years of experience with the latest technologies and innovations to develop these exceptional MKII models.” He added, “We utilized Michi, Rotel and Tribute technologies, ensuring the new MKII models achieved the performance deserving of this iconic brand as we celebrate our anniversary.”

The latest announcement comes on the back of a programme that has seen the updated RSP-1576MKII and RAP-1580MKII sound processors launched in 2020 along with the A14MKII, RA-1572MKII and RA-1592MKII amplifiers plus RC-1590MKII and RC-1572MKII preamplifiers in 2021.

The new models will be available in silver and black finishes through the Authorised Rotel and Sumiko dealers in the USA and also the rest of the world beginning in January 2022 with the following recommended retail prices:

• A12MKII integrated amplifier: £949, €1,099, $1,099
• CD14MKII CD player: £649, €749, $899
