Roon latest v1.8 goes live 9th February

Roon, the innovative music streaming and discovery platform gets a go live date of 9th February for its latest release. Version 1.8 brings more intelligent music discovery, deeper personalisation and a redesigned, modern interface.

Roon is a music player that allows fans to rediscover old favorites and find new tracks and albums to listen to, along with exhaustive information about the music and artists.

The update to v1.8 will bring a fresh and modern design to the interface that both looks appealing and is easier to use. Each of the newly organised page layouts - from the new Home and artist screens to the composer and genre pages - are curated just for the listener and the new vertical scroll gives a consistent experience no matter which device you are using, be it desktop, tablet or smartphone.

Whether you are a user who is just starting out or have an extensive library built over years, the listener’s own music collection serves as a starting point for discovering new music. Roon 1.8 leverages powerful new browsing capabilities and recommendations by combining the software’s metadata plus its understanding of how you and your fellow 100,000 Roon listeners use the platform. The resulting suggestions are accurately tailored to the individual.

Moreover, access to millions of high-resolution tracks is possible by connecting TIDAL or Qobuz streaming services to your Roon account. The key to this is the use of the Focus feature which now expands beyond just searching the listener’s library to search anywhere in Roon, including both TIDAL and Qobuz, to give a complete overview of your favorite artists, genre, performers and composers.

The new Discography view makes it easy to browse even the most prolific artist’s catalogue plus collaborations, influences and connections can be filtered to give a unique window on a musician or composer leading to a variety of new Roon-powered recommendations.

For the classical music fan, Roon 1.8 features a completely new visual style and information layout for the genre. It’s possible to explore using criteria such as composer, performance, period and  more. With tighter links between albums and composers, as well as simpler browsing, the intelligent recommendations the listener receives are based on the composer, performer, composition or conductor being listened to.

The new Discography feature includes a comprehensive new “performances” view, where you can use Focus to find the exact artist performance of the piece you’re looking for.

Roon 1.8’s updated Home screen provide plenty of dashboard analytics so music fans can see what artists, albums and genres they are listening to, broken down into week, month, year or all-time.

There are now also quick links to the Roon Community within the app, so you are always just one click away from support from Roon and its music experts

Roon founder and CEO, Enno Vandermeer, said, “Roon users are expert listeners, which means they mine their favorite subgenres fanatically. The data about that listening, in turn, is what makes Roon’s music suggestions feel so human. It’s the Roon community that makes these innovations possible.

Roon 1.8 goes live on February 9, 2021.
