Rega announce limited edition turntable for Record Store Day 2019
Rega commemorates Record Store Day
Record Store Day was introduced in 2008 and is an annual celebration of the culture and passion of independent record stores across the world. Rega recognise this with a limited edition edition turntable release each year and 2019 is no exception. For a certain generation of music lovers, their passion was ignited by the local independent record store which usually allowed them to hang out for hours, flip through LPs without making a purchase and listen to the store manager’s album and band of choice.
The impact of that independent spirit is celebrated every April with Record Store Day and Rega recognise the event by releasing a limited edition turntable in commemoration.
Last year’s model was a hybrid of the Planer 1 and Planar 3 but for 2019’s edition, Rega have opted for a custom Rega P1-Plus and there are only 500 available at various UK Hi-Fi and records stores (including Harrow Audio and Crash Records). The price is £299, which is actually £30 less than the original asking price of £329.
The exclusive custom design turntable comes fitted with a phono pre-amp, allowing you to connect to any amplifier or active speakers. It is available in Gloss White, with the Rega Carbon cartridge fitted and a unique RSD designed mat sitting atop the phenolic black platter, which itself is is emblazoned with ‘Record Store Day UK.’
The original Rega Planar 1 Plus was released in 2018 as a ‘plug and play’ deck with a moving magnet cartridge and built-in phono stage and was reviewed by AVForums here, where it received a best Buy Award.
The limited edition Record Store Day Rega P1 Plus is available for pre-order at £299 and will be released on April 13th 2019.
